My love of a challenge, appreciation for automation, and long-standing focus on building up a technological toolset has proven to be an invaluable foundation in coming up with creative solutions.
A love of numbers is what first sparked my career
I grew up in Sudbury, Massachusetts. I always loved numbers and knew I wanted to start my career at a firm with vast networking opportunities – that’s initially how I was drawn to public accounting. I began my working life at Deloitte, where I had a mix of commercial and financial services clients. I quickly realized that I loved the investment management space and started trending towards more finance-based career goals.
There’s always a solution
That holds true in both my professional and my personal life. Growing up in a household that loved basketball and playing a variety of sports from an early age, I learned the value of problem solving and being able to adapt to any situation. My love of a challenge, appreciation for automation, and long-standing focus on building up a technological toolset has proven to be an invaluable foundation in coming up with creative solutions. Working with the team at Advent Global Opportunities, it’s a case of ‘Hey, we have a goal we’d like to accomplish. What are the steps we can figure out to get there?’. You can never allow yourself to get boxed-in or start thinking ‘I don’t know if we can get there’. There’s always a solution.
Our working environment makes us unique
We work in a large open space for ease of communication, allowing the team to bounce ideas off one another and encouraging an environment of openness and creative thinking. At AGO, you’re very in tune with the day-to-day activities of the firm as a whole. You’re not just narrowly focused in on your own responsibilities without an idea of the bigger picture. Beyond that, we can draw upon a global network of professionals with vast private equity knowledge. On top of our smaller Finance and Operations group within AGO, we also have access to the larger Advent Finance network resources whenever needed.
Exercise is how I disconnect to reconnect
Whether it’s taking my dog Penny for walks along the Charles River, or finding time for a Peloton ride or spin class with friends, exercise is how I reset and refocus to bring a fresh perspective to all aspects of my life. In my spare time I also enjoy supporting New England sports. I’m a longtime fan of the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots.
