It’s been exciting to be part of the team from the beginning, helping to instill a culture where each team member can share ideas and have an impact.

I was drawn to Boston – and accounting

Growing up in a small family outside of Cleveland, Ohio, I realized that I was ready for a change. I was presented with a great opportunity to move to the East Coast for college. When I first stepped onto Boston College’s campus, I knew Boston was where I was meant to be. With an interest in business, I took an accounting class and really enjoyed it. I entered a Big Four accounting firm internship program and was selected for two summer programs. This experience and training set me on a fast track, and ultimately provided me with a great opportunity for a full-time position upon graduating.

When I was ready for change, Advent was the right solution

There’s a point in your career where you ask yourself, where do I see this going? Do I want to stay and pursue making partner? After spending over nine years in public accounting, I was ready for a change, and started to look for opportunities in the financial private market. Advent became one of my top choices, based on its culture of ambition, collaboration, and humility. When an opportunity surfaced to join the newly developed Advent Global Opportunities, I jumped at it, with the hope of being able to lead and contribute to the firm’s success.

I was the fourth member of our team

I was brought into Advent Global Opportunities to lead the finance and operations of the portfolios. As the fourth employee on the team, I wore many hats as we launched the strategy. It felt like an entrepreneurial environment, but being part of Advent, we had a lot of shared resources. Although we’ve since grown as a team, we’re still small and agile – allowing us to maintain strong communication and ensure the operational resources allow the organization to function smoothly. It’s been exciting to be part of the team from the beginning, helping to instill a culture where each team member can share ideas and have an impact.

Advent’s culture makes me look forward to work

The culture is what differentiates Advent and Advent Global Opportunities from other firms. The people here provide an energy – continuously motivating and challenging each other to improve and grow. As a small team, we need to be agile and think of ways to deliver increased value to our investors. The people are what drew me to the firm, and they’re what keeps me here.
